Rendering type as a graphic element is always a bit of a problem. If the customer uses a typeface that the Ad Production Department does not have available, nor has a reasonable substitute, then the art producer has no choice but to use the scanned type. It then becomes the problem to smooth the type and increase the contrast to make it look as natural as possible.
